Secrets of Old Dartmouth Update:
The release of the newly-revised edition of Secrets of Old Dartmouth is nearly here. This wonderfully educational and historic look into our town’s past, told by retired Dartmouth educator Kathleen Ryan Comiskey Roberts, is a must read for anyone who loves Dartmouth and the surrounding communities of Westport, Fairhaven, Acushnet, and New Bedford (formerly “Old Dartmouth”).
The book has been revised, and is being republished in a beautiful, laminated, glossy hard-covered edition, for use by all of the third-grade students in the Dartmouth Public Schools. The book will also be available for sale in limited quantity at various locations to be announced on the publisher, Vineyard Sound Books’ Web site. A portion of the proceeds will be donated by the author and the publisher, to assist the Dartmouth Educational Foundation in their mission to enhance education in our community.
This important educational endeavor was made possible through the hard work and dedication of Ms. Cathy Maccini, Principal of the Joseph Demello School, the author, Kathleen Ryan Comiskey Roberts, and a committee consisting of third grade teachers Leslie Gamache, Erica Payer, and Demello School parent Mia Lahti.
The book is currently at the printer in Ashland, Ohio, and will be shipped to Vineyard Sound Books of Dartmouth on October 22, 2010. A book signing with Ms. Roberts is scheduled for Wednesday October 27th from 6PM to 8PM at the Southworth Library in South Dartmouth.
