Dartmouth Community Park Project Update:
The Town of Dartmouth is continuing to develop a new community park on the green space linking the Southworth Library and the Cushman School. This facility will provide both active and passive recreational areas for the entire
community.
The town was recently awarded a $214,020 grant from the State and $154,980 from Community Preservation funds to complete Phase II of this project. Phase II will include a fully handicap accessible playground, “green” benches and picnic tables for passive recreation, landscaping to enhance the natural setting and attractiveness of the space and LED efficient lighting to provide security lighting. Phase I, which is nearing completion, includes a community access loop, passive reading areas and walking paths. Phase II construction will begin next July.
A group of supportive citizens is seeking to provide enhancements to this project through a town-wide community fundraising effort. The goal is to raise $27,000 through community donations and grants. This money will be used for additional landscaping, picnic tables and benches, and playground equipment. If you would like to join the effort to make the Dartmouth Community Park a true community project, you may now make a tax-deductible donation. The Community Foundation of Southeastern Massachusetts has generously agreed to serve as our fiscal sponsor for tax-deductible donations. Donations can be sent to the following:
